货泉是一种汉代钱币，它是王莽天凤元年（公元14年）第四次货币改制的产物。货泉从天凤元年起一直流通到东汉光武帝建武十六年（公元40年）。材质为青铜，尚见有铁质和铜夹铁者，钱文为悬针篆，泉中竖笔断开，王莽的币制改革是失败的，但莽钱制作精良，为“钱绝”之首，为后世所称道。 “货布”、“货泉”堪称是王莽后期铸币的代表作，是莽钱中较珍贵的品种，具有一定的历史研究所值和收藏价值。

“货泉”直径22.3mm 厚1.3mm 重2.7克，铜质，铜色稍呈红色，圆形方穿，有内外廓，正方形穿，穿之两面有廓，钱面模铸篆文“货泉”二字，笔画较细，清晰工整， “泉”字中间直竖中断，此枚货泉面背四出，这种版别相当罕见所以更具收藏价值。总体来说，前期的货泉的大小和重量都相差不大，工艺较好，规范程度也比较高；但自新莽朝晚期至东汉初年，由于持续的社会大动乱和各股起义军、豪强武装的相互征战，经济受到极大破坏，轻小劣币及私铸货泉大量出现，历经两千年悠悠岁月而流传至今的货泉铜币还保存如此完好殊为不易，收藏价值可见一斑。
